Retro kitchen scales and cocktail stools going cheap

Proving that you can still find some seriously interesting items online which are bargain buys for your chic vintage kitchen, we've found these rather nice vintage Tower kitchen scales which currently have no bids with a day left, and a starting price of £14.99. Worth watching, because if noone bids it's always worth making a cheeky offer.

And we were also pleasantly surprised to find these two retro-style bar stools for just 99p with 24 hours left. Having watched countless items like this end up becoming rather expensive, or being resold by professional sellers for a lot more, it seems like a lot of bargain hunters might still be recovering from Christmas and not be up to their normal eagle-eyed eBay watching.

OK, so the stools are collection-only, but even including a quick trip in a van or car with a large enough boot, you'll still get a sizeable saving. You might have missed out on stylish New Year's cocktails for this year, but you'll be prepared for the end of 2012 in style!

And although you could spend a bit of time polishing up either the scales or stools, they're cool enough to fit into a vintage or retro kitchen with a quick wipe of a cloth, which is always handy. It's always nice when you don't have to refurbish absolutely everything!

I have to admit I was torn between posting this up or buying it myself. Most vintage and retro scales look pretty much identical, but these not only add some vintage cool, but would also be great for playing greengrocer or sweetshop owner. And I could do with the excuse to buy some big jars of fizzy cola bottles…

They’re currently waiting for a first bid, with a starting price of £14.99. And details include a crown insignia with a number 5, and a serial number underneath of 44076 if you want to investigate them further.

Not only do you get the funky container in a rather nice green colour, and some cool dials to look at but it’ll weigh items up to 500g and has metric and imperial measurements (so no need for mental conversions). It’s 30cm by 20cm and 28cm tall, with a few small paint chips – but that adds to the charm for me. The only thing to keep in mind is that something this heavy will incur some postage costs unless you can arrange to pick it up in person.

There’s just over a day left to bid, so it could be a good time to nab a bargain on some scales which you don’t often see.

Cool 1970s Kingcraft kitchen scales

Just spotted this - fully working and fairly funky Kingcraft kitchen scales. They're the original 1970s deal, and cover both metric and imperial.

 They've got imperial and metric units, so you don't have to worry about converting any recipes, and with a couple of days left, they're selling for either £4.99 as an auction price, or £7.50 as a Buy It Now option.

 And while you're *ahem* weighing that up - it looks like John Lewis have got the Heston Blumenthal Orb Electronic Scales back in stock now.
